On the morning of May 31, Nam Can Tho University Medical Center celebrated its 2nd anniversary by opening the DNC – La Ratio Aesthetic Center and introducing an Artificial Kidney Unit.
Dr. Vo Thanh Trung, CEO of DNC – La Ratio Aesthetic Center, spoke at the ceremony, highlighting the collaboration between Nam Can Tho University Medical Center and La Ratio Aesthetic Institute in establishing the Aesthetic Center. This marks a significant milestone in the field of health and aesthetics in the Mekong Delta region. The Aesthetic Center not only offers safe and high-quality beauty services to customers, but also provides valuable training opportunities for students at Nam Can Tho University.

On this occasion, the Medical Center introduced the Artificial Kidney Unit in the Department of Emergency – Intensive Care and Poison Control, which officially began operating on July 15, 2024. The unit is equipped with 20 modern artificial kidney dialysis machines that meet the standards set by the Ministry of Health. In addition, the unit is equipped with auxiliary equipment, including Medical Center beds, HD dialysis machines, German HDF-Online model machines, an AAMI standard RO water purifier, and a filter washing and preservation system.
According to Medical Center leaders, the newly implemented Artificial Kidney Unit will greatly benefit patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases. The unit will provide patients with essential services such as blood filtration and medication administration. Additionally, it will offer emergency dialysis for patients experiencing kidney failure and regularly scheduled dialysis for those with chronic kidney failure.
Associate Professor Dr. Dam Van Cuong, Director of Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, stated that the Medical Center has invested in the Artificial Kidney Unit to improve the efficiency of providing high-quality medical services, enhance local medical management capacity, and create favorable treatment conditions for patients in the region. This not only helps to reduce the burden on regional Medical Centers, but also lowers treatment costs for patients.
Nam Can Tho University Medical Center is a state-of-the-art facility, consisting of 10 floors and a basement, with a capacity of 300 beds and 29 departments and rooms. It has been operational since June 2022 and prides itself on its modern amenities and advanced medical equipment, which adhere to international standards. Currently, the Medical Center employs a staff of nearly 300 officers and employees. It has also established partnerships with renowned Medical Centers such as Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Can Tho Central General Hospital, and Can Tho City General Hospital. These collaborations allow for seamless medical referrals and treatment between the Hospital. Furthermore, the Hospital serves as a valuable research facility for students majoring in the health sector at Nam Can Tho University.
