Nam Can Tho University Establishes DNC International Medical Faculty

Nam Can Tho University officially announced the establishment of the DNC International Medical Faculty on June 24. This new faculty will offer health sciences programs to international students from countries including India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Middle East, and more.

In his speech, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, announced that the university currently offers 42 undergraduate programs, six master’s programs, and one doctoral program. Additionally, the university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) by the U.S., qualifying its medical students for U.S. medical residency exams.

Dr. Quang emphasized that establishing the DNC International Medical Faculty marks a significant step in the university’s efforts to innovate, enhance international cooperation, and promote applied scientific research for both faculty and students.

Earlier, Nam Can Tho University signed an agreement with VMED (India) for study abroad consultancy and training for international students. The first cohort of approximately 150 students will start in 2024, with plans to increase enrollment in subsequent years. VMED will select students based on academic performance, health standards, and language proficiency, in compliance with Vietnamese regulations for international students.

Associate Professor Dr. Phillip Tran, Chairman of the DNC International Medical Faculty Academic Council, stressed the importance of training future doctors using modern methodologies from developed countries, integrating practical medical experience with robust research capabilities. The state-of-the-art facilities will ensure that students from various countries and Vietnam receive high-quality, internationally recognized education from the onset of their undergraduate studies.

The state-of-the-art facilities will ensure that students from various countries and Vietnam receive high-quality, internationally recognized education from the onset of their undergraduate studies.

Over the past 11 years, DNC has been offering eight medical specialties, two pharmacy specialties, and one dental specialty at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Health sciences students can integrate their studies with practical training at Nam Can Tho University Medical Center and DNC Pharmaceutical Research and Development Center

At the ceremony, the Board of Directors of Nam Can Tho University announced the appointment of Associate Professor Dr. Phillip Tran (Tran Van Phuc) as the Dean of the DNC International Medical Faculty. They also announced the establishment of the International Medical Science Council and introduced the DNC International Medical Curriculum in English.
